Daisy Smith Nichols, 82, of 120 Peeler Creek Road, wife of David Nichols of Gastonia, N.C., died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at 3:30 p.m. at her residence.

Daughter of the late Crawley Smith Sr. and the late Nellie Wilkins Smith, she was born on July 3, 1925, in Cherokee County. She was a member of New High Springs Baptist Church of Gastonia and was last employed in home care.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Teresa Sturgis and Michelle Wall, both of Gastonia; three brothers, Crawley Smith Jr., James Smith and Charles Foster, all of Gaffney; nine sisters, Alice Smith, Dorothy Humphries, both of the home, Feroline Dukes, Virginia Good and Velma Rawlison, all of Gaffney, Vivian Askew of Aliquippa, Pa., Daisy Foster, Doris Buckson and Nellie Elmore, all of Gaffney; and five grandchildren.
