Gaffney holds off Rams

      The Gaffney Indians brushed aside homecoming distractions and pesky Hillcrest on Friday. Jeremiah Cochran ran for 167 yards on 12 carries, Steffen Foster gained 112 yards and the Gaffney defense held the Rams to only 84 total yards in a 14-7 win.

      Maurice Brown scored on a 1-yard fourth-down run in double overtime as Blacksburg ruined Southside's homecoming Friday with a dramatic 40-34 victory. Blacksburg fought back from a 28- 6 deficit with 3:24 remaining in the third quarter to send the game into overtime.

Big victory puts playoffs in reach for Blacksburg

      The table is still set for Blacksburg to qualify for the playoffs by winning Friday's homecoming game against Chesnee. Blacksburg must beat Chesnee to finish its schedule with a 3-2 region record. Chapman would then need to defeat Chesnee the following week.

Lady Saints sweep past Pfieffer in three games
STAFF REPORTS
      The Limestone volleyball team improved to 10-3 with a 3-0 win over rival Pfeiffer on Saturday. Melissa Thomas had 14 kills and 13 digs to lead the Lady Saints, who downed Pfeiffer, 30-19, 30-19, 30-27. Lynn Milam also had a big match with nine kills, six assists, four service aces, five digs and five blocks.

      Gaffney swimmer finishes fifth Gaffney High swimmer Brock Moss finished fifth in the 100-yard breasttroke and 23rd in the 200-yard imdividual medley at the Class 4A swimming championship on Saturday. Moss was the lone Gaffney High swimmer to qualify for the state meet.

Testaverde leads Panthers over Cardinals

      GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Carolina Panthers won a matchup that came down to a couple of familiar old quarterbacks. At age 43, Vinny Testaverde came out of semiretirement to lead the Panthers to a 25-10 victory Sunday, while Arizona's 36- year-old Kurt Warner was knocked out with a sprained left elbow in the first quarter.
