Dear Editor:

On behalf of the City of Gaffney, I would like to say thank you to the members of the community and the businesses for their support of two recent City of Gaffney events.

(1.) Michael Gaffney Day Celebration

We especially appreciate the participation of CAVA members and Saving Gaffney's Pets; the time Shirley and Joe Randolph spent in decorating the Michael Gaffney Log Home for this event, and Allison's Produce for donating the apples and apple cider that helped lend that special autumn ambiance to the day, and to the local media for helping us publicize this celebration of the memory of our city's founding father, Michael Gaffney.

To the members of the community who participated in the activities, listened to the music provided by Tom Wheeler and by the Dale Hambright Band, and who enjoyed the beautiful day with us, thank you! Many of you have said you would like to see this special event grow each year, and with your continued participation and support it can.

(2.) Shindig at the Gaffney Cabin

To Hames Music; Jim Cudd, CPA; Daddy Joe's Beach House Barbecue and Grill; Sticks of Gaffney; Dee Tee's Downtown; the Mayor, Council, and City of Gaffney employees without whose support this would not have been possible; the media including the Blacksburg Times, The Gaffney Ledger and the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, WEAC and WFGN; and all who attended the first Shindig at the Gaffney Cabin concert, Shaggie Maggie, thank you!

Your support for this City of Gaffney event was, and will continue to be, very important.

We sincerely hope everyone enjoyed that great performance by one of the best beach, boogie, rhythm and blues bands in the Southeast, Shaggie Maggie.
