Retired from textile industry

Annie Long Davenport, 76, of 190 Walnut Hill Farm Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in Newberry, she was the daughter of the late James William Long and Cleo Sanders Long and widow of Mack J. Davenport. Mrs. Davenport was retired from the textile industry and was a member of Pacolet Road Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Jeff Davenport of Gaffney; four daughters, Linda Kirby. Theresa Gordon, both of Gaffney, Janette Wilson of Laurens and Ruth Upton of Blacksburg; two brothers, Jim Long of Texas and Ray Long of Newberry; a sister, Bertha Harmon of Newberry; 16 grandchildren, Lisa Wilson, Wyatt Wilson, Ann Wheat, Sheila Johnson, Samantha Brindle, Danny Lee Davenport, Becky Sellars, Scott Upton, Vandy Sexton, Chad Sexton, Timmy Upton, Tammy Kelly, Regina Rector, Jamie Davenport, Cody Davenport and Joey Davenport; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and J. D. McConaha and Ricky Long, both raised in the home.

In addition to her husband, Mack Davenport, she was preceded in death by a son, Mike Davenport; two brothers, Alvin Long and Bobby Long; a sister, Libby Long; a grandson, Jeffery Lynn Davenport; and a great-granddaughter, Angel Sellars.

The family will be at the home of Linda Kirby, 186 Walnut Hill Farm Road.
