Cherokee County native

Ruth Annie Holmes, 87, of Brookview HealthCare Center, 510 Thompson St., died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at 12:32 a.m. at her residence.

Daugh- ter of the late Javan Holmes and the late Olee Petty Holmes, she was a native of Cherokee County. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward Holmes, Francis "Joe" Holmes, Clark "Slick" Holmes and Javan Holmes Jr.; a sister, Marie Daniels; and a son, Floyd Holmes. She was a member of Mikes Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Holmes; daughter-inlaw, Patricia Hardin Holmes; grandchild, Jozette Patrice` Holmes; and sister-in-law, Christen Holmes Thompson.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Mikes Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Warren Manning, the Rev. Sammy Leach, the Rev. Sister Modestine Manning and the Rev. Sister Nettie Ree McCluney officiating. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home of Joseph and Patricia Holmes, 204 Peeler St.
