FCA women's area rep guest speaker at club meeting Oct. 9
The Tuesday Woman's Club met Oct. 9 at the home of Mrs. Richard Baines. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Lawrence Childers and Mrs. Jamie Grindstaff.
Following the business, Mrs. Kurt Jolliff, president, recognized Mrs. Grindstaff for the program. Guest speaker was Claudia Butler, whose topic was "New in Gaffney."
Mrs. Butler is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes' area representative for Cherokee and Union counties, which is not only a new position for her but also a newly created one in this area. Her primary responsibility is to minister to female coaches and athletes in these counties. She commented that Cherokee County is recognized in the FCA organization for its understanding of the need for a woman's ministry.
Mrs. Butler explained the expanded role of FCA and highlighted its many opportunities for outreach to both young people and adults, certainly not just those involved in athletics. Their program is built around coaches, campuses, camps and community. She highlighted some of the ministries she is initiating in her new position and invited questions from members to clarify their understanding of the role of FCA.
Following the program, members enjoyed refreshments and a time of fellowship.
