Diplomate Award presented to local dentist

Dr. L. West Turnage Jr. of Gaffney recently attended the 2007 meeting of the American Orthodontic Society, a professional organization composed of general practice and pediatric dentists who include orthodontics in their practice.

During the meeting, Dr. Turnage heard speakers in orthodontics from throughout the United States. Also at the meeting, Dr. Turnage was presented the prestigious Diplomate award, the requirements

for which include that he maintains at least five consecutive

years of membership in the American Orthodontic Society, complete 500 hours of orthodontic education from sponsors approved by the Academy of General Dentistry, and present to the Board of Examiners complete records of 10 orthodontic cases he has treated.

Dr. Turnage has been a member of the society for over 22 years. In addition to receiving this, the highest award given by the society, Dr. Turnage has been nominated to serve on the American Orthodontic Society Board of Directors.

Dr. Turnage offers orthodontic treatment, as well as general dentistry, with an emphasis on cosmetic dentistry in his practice at 909 N. Limestone St.
