Sylvia Yelton Childers

Retired from Oxford Ind.

Sylvia Yelton Childers, 68, of 714 Lyman St., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, after an extended illness.

Born in Chesnee, she was the wife of Charles E. Childers and daughter of the late Nesbitt Yelton and Nellie Scruggs Yelton Crow. Mrs. Childers was retired from Oxford Industries and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Eddie Childers and wife, Suzanne, and Michael Childers and wife, Teresa, all of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Kayce Childers, Brody Childers, Chad Shuford, all of Gaffney, and Mindi Montgomery and husband, Josh, of Asheville, N.C.; two greatgrandchildren, Madison Montgomery and Zoe Montgomery of Asheville; two sisters, Barbara Towery and husband, Walter, of Chesnee and Debbie Brown and husband, John, of Gaffney; five brothers, Marshall Yelton and wife, Jean, of Greenwood, Kenneth Yelton and wife, Emily, of Chesnee, Randy Crow of Inman, Boyce Crow and wife, Sandra, of Lexington and Rodger Crow and wife, Anne, of Spartanburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Dr. Wofford Caughman. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be the deacons of Southside Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, 204 W. O'Neal St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
