BLACKSBURG - Terry Eugene Blanton, 58, of 486 Moss Crossing, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007.

A native of Gaffney, Mr. Blanton was married to Peggy Cribb Blanton and was the son of Lyman and the late Frances Jones Blanton of Blacksburg. He retired from the United States Navy after 21 years of

service and worked

as a supervisor for

Duke Energy. He was a member of New Heights Baptist Church, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was also a Shriner.

In addition to his wife and father, Mr. Blanton is survived by a son, Sgt. First Class Kristopher M. Barnette of Dahlonega, Ga.; two daughters, Jayci E Blanton of Gaffney and Angel Dawn Blanton Cash of Gaffney; a brother, Dr. Bruce Blanton of Fayetteville, N.C.; a granddaughter, Graycie Cash of Gaffney; and a son-in-law, Johnny Ray Cash of Gaffney.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary.

Full military services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at New Heights Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Sidney Norton and Mr. Olin Phillips. Interment will follow in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at the home of Lyman Blanton, 510 Turner Road, Blacksburg.
