Donation made in memory of 'Pitt' Brown

ROBERT 'PITT' BROWN ROBERT 'PITT' BROWN A donation was recently given to the Bob Prevatte Education Scholarship Foundation in memory of Robert 'Pitt' Brown by his wife, Sherrie, and daughters Lindsey and Lauren.

Pitt's brother, Fender Brown, and his wife Patsy also made a donation to the foundation.

Pitt graduated from Gaffney High School in 1961 and played football under Prevatte on the 1960 state championship team. He received the 'Best Defensive Player' trophy. Brown attended Gardner Webb College and graduated from Western Carolina University and played football for both schools.

He returned to Gaffney and worked for the Cherokee County School District and coached football and baseball for a number of years. He was also a teacher and later principal. Brown passed away Jan. 29, 1997.
