Rev. Willie H. Woods

Retired from Vulcan Materials

BLACKSBURG - The Rev. Willie Horace Woods, 69, of 130 Henry Drive died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at 5:20 p.m. in Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

A native of Cherokee County, he was the widower of Annie Curry Woods and son of the late Horace Woods and the late Louizer Hopper Woods. He was pastor of New Hope A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church in Lancaster and was a graduate of Granard High School and Clinton Junior College in Rock Hill. Rev. Woods was retired from Vulcan Materials Company.

Surviving are two sons, Anthony Woods of Spartanburg and the Rev. Richard Woods of Gaffney; two daughters, Jacqueline Good of Gaffney and Virgette Woods of Spartanburg; two brothers, Terry Woods of Gaffney and Nathaniel Littlejohn of Washington; seven sisters, Modestine Good, Kaye Frances Woods of Columbia, Isabell Logan of Shelby, Novella Kelly, Della Sanders, Joann Edwards of Gaffney and Evangeline Adams of Cowpens; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church in Gaffney, conducted by Dr. Michael Bridges, Bishop Clarence Carr, Dr. Robert Christain and the Rev. Otha L. Smith. Body will be placed in the church at noon. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Blacksburg.
