City issues permit for apartments
An upscale apartment complex is closer to becoming a reality.
The city has issued a building permit for the 114-unit complex, City of Gaffney Zoning Administrator Tony Lavender.
The complex will be built on a 9.2-acre site adjacent to Spartanburg Community College branch campus.
The apartment complex will feature a swimming pool and clubhouse, developer Jeff Harmon has said.
Harmon's company has built similar apartment complexes in Spartanburg, Greer and Anderson.
The 1, 2- and 3-bedroom units will be constructed of brick and vinyl. The units will be leased at the market rate, Harmon has said.
Last spring, Gaffney City Council annexed the property after the site was rezoned from single-family dwelling to multi-family residential.
