Sex offenders will be watched closely by deputies on Halloween Halloween is a special night full of candy, costumes and laughter for many children and their parents. With the unofficial holiday approaching, deputies and agents at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office are taking measures to make sure it stays that way. Authorities will be keeping close tabs on registered sex offenders in the area Wednesday, making sure they are not involved with the night's festivities. Law enforcement officials have announced they will be making random checks to the homes of registered sex offenders along with making sure they abide by a curfew in place for the night. Offenders are also advised to keep their porch lights off and not receive visitors during hours that trick-ortreaters are roaming the streets. The Sheriff's office, along with the Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services also will be making sure all sex offenders comply with state laws requiring them to register. |
