Trustees to evaluate superintendent

Cherokee County School Superintendent Dr. Bill James will receive his annual evaluation from the school board at Monday's meeting.

The superintendent evaluation and personnel matters are the only items on the agenda for the 7 p.m. meeting at the district office. Previous board evaluations have focused on the superintendent's job knowledge, quality of work, initiative, handling of personnel and curriculum issues, and financial management.

James received a 1-year contract extension last year that extended his contract to June 30, 2009. He currently makes $124,808 annually.

He has served as superintendent since February of 2001.
