Benefactors of the Humane Society of Cherokee County

COLUMBIA - Martha Burns Dobson died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007.

A native of Atlanta, Ga., she was the widow of Dr. Edward Hope Dobson Jr. and daughter of the late Lytle Dewitt and Pearle Powell Burns. She graduated from Girl's High School in Atlanta, Ga., and Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Ga.

Mrs. Dobson lived for most of her married life in Gaffney, where her husband practiced dentistry. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and was also a member of the Junior Women's Club and the Tuesday Woman's Club. Both she and her husband were benefactors of the Humane Society of Cherokee County.

At her death, she lived in Columbia and was a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Martha Ferrell and her husband, Jim, of Hartford, Conn., and Barbara Collins and her husband, Norman, of Columbia; and two grandchildren, Jason Ferrell of Columbia and Kathleen Ferrell of Charlotte.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 1 p.m. at Northeast Presbyterian Church Cemetery, conducted by Pastor George Crow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the organization of one's choice.
