Virginia B. Morgan
BLACKSBURG - Virginia Irene Burke Morgan, 80, of 387 Dye Road, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center in Gaffney.
A native of Chesnee, she was the widow of Herbert Morgan and daughter of the late Craton and Buna Lovelace Burke. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and was retired from Hamrick's. She volunteered for a number of years at the Senior Center in Blacksburg.
Surviving are three sons, Jessie Humphries of Clover, Herman Humphries of Gaffney and David William Humphries of the home; two daughters, Virginia Peterson of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Dorothy Peterson of Gaffney; four brothers, John Burke of Hickory, N.C., Amos Burke, Glenn Burke, both of Chesnee, and Raymond Burke of Spartanburg; five sisters, Ellen B. Bolick, Gladys B. Jolly, both of Chesnee, Lena B. Hicks, Viola "Tinker" B. Deal and Myrtle Lee Lane, all of Hickory ; 14 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, two grandsons, one greatgrandson and a brother.
A celebration of life service will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at Burke Family Center in Chesnee, conducted by the Rev. Terry Lowe.
Mrs. Morgan's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation was held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at White Columns Funeral Service in Blacksburg.
The family is at the home of Dorothy Peterson, 104 Crestmont Drive, Gaffney.
