'Cats end season with bang

      Blacksburg senior quarterback Dustin Byars scored on a 1-yard run and 2-point conversion with 13 seconds left for a thrilling 43- 42 victory over Crescent Friday evening. Blacksburg scored 29 points in the fourth quarter to rally from a 34-21 deficit.

      Wildcat jayvees end season with 'L' Crescent beat the Blacksburg junior varsity 53-20 Friday in the final regular season game. Blacksburg running back Josh Ramirez scored on a 75-yard run to tie the score at six in the first quarter.

Indians make a stand

      A week ago, the Gaffney Indian defense had a bad night against Byrnes. On Friday, it made sure the Dorman Cavaliers felt its pain. The hard-hitting Gaffney defense allowed just 228 yards of total offense and forced four turnovers in a 7-0 win over the host Cavaliers. Gaffney (8-2, 4-1) clinched second place in the region and a first-round home playoff game.

Key defensive adjustment shuts door on Dorman

      Once Gaffney figured out how to stop Dorman quarterback Johnny Foster, things turned out all right for the Indians. Foster had two big gains on the first series, but was held in check for the rest of the game.

Overwhelming in every way, the Red Sox swept to their second title in four years Sunday night. Jon Lester, Mike Lowell & Co. left little room for drama with a 4- 3 win over the Colorado Rockies in Game 4.
