WHAT'S UP Singings Chesnee Gospel Music Center on Green Lake Road in Chesnee will have a gospel singing Saturday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. featuring The Swansons of Spartanburg. Fund raisers A turkey shoot will be held Saturdays, Nov. 10 and Nov. 17, from 7-10 a.m. at Camps Creek Baptist Church. Win your Thanksgiving turkey and have lots of fun at the same time. Bring your shotgun; shells will be provided. Cost is $5 per shot. Breakfast biscuits and drinks will be available. All proceeds go to the building of McNary Apache Baptist Church in McNary, Ariz. Fall festivals Along with the Grover Fall Festival, members of Shiloh Presbyterian Church, 307 Cleveland Ave., Grover, will have a fall and Christmas craft bazaar Saturday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. until noon. Breakfast biscuits and coffee will be sold and a drawing for a $300 gas card will be held at 12:15 p.m. Drawings will also be held for other donated items and baked goods will be for sale. Church news T.C.C. Ministries will present "It's Sunday Night Live" on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 5 p.m. at the Super 8 Motel, 100 Ellis Ferry Ave., Gaffney. Speaker will be Pastor Michael B. Henderson. Cherokee Falls Baptist Church will have a fish fry and chicken stew Saturday, Nov. 3, from 3 p.m. until in the fellowship building. Donations are appreciated, but not required. For more information, call 838-1549. Mt. Paran Baptist Church will have revival Sunday, Nov. 4, through Wednesday, Nov. 7. with Rev. James E. Humphries. The Sunday night service will begin at 6:15 p.m. Monday through Wednesday's services will begin at 7 p.m. The Youth Choir of Bethel Baptist Church will celebrate its 36th anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 5 p.m. with a singing program. Various choirs and groups from the surrounding area will be participating in the program. Everyone is invited to come help these young people uplift the name of Jesus through song. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate their 130th anniversary Sunday, Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. T.E. Simmons, Pastor of Reedy Fork Baptist Church in Simpsonville. Special events The Carolina Pottery Festival will celebrate its seventh year on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Shelby. The festival features approximately 100 regional potters who will be showing and selling their work. It is one of the largest pottery only festivals in the Southeast with a wide range of traditional and contemporary work. Artists will be on hand to talk about their inspiration, methods of creation and answer questions. Admission is $2 for ages 12 and over. A portion of the admission proceeds benefits the Cleveland County Arts Council. Meeting The Democratic Women will have a meeting Monday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. at House of Pizza. Representative Olin R. Phillips is on the program. Come join for fellowship and information. Reminder: Dues are $12.00 and due for the year. Next meeting will be February 2008. Health Fair A health fair will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. until noon at New Pleasant Baptist Church. Everything is free. Being offered will be blood pressure check, body mass index, lung function testing, CPR overview, stroke assessment, prenatal information, and other health tipd. Sale Beginning Monday, Nov. 5, the Gaffney Senior Center will be having a wide variety of cloth and novelty material for sale from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily. Fill a bag for $1. Senior Center The "Hooks and Needles with Love" Club at the Gaffney Senior Center will be knitting and crocheting hats of all sizes during the months of November and December. The hats will be sent to our National Guard Unit stationed overseas to use as needed. There is some yard available to use for this project and you can stop by 499 West Rutledge Avenue to pick some up. You can also help by donating yard for this project.
