Church celebrates birthday by 'Calling Down Fire'
Most birthdays or anniversaries involve blowing out of candles.
However, Restoration Church of Gaffney for its third anniversary is expecting fire to rain down from the heavens as the church holds its annual Calling Down Fire Conference this week.
The church has named this year's conference "The Seven Days of Blaze," with the expectancy of the supernatural taking place during one of the many services occurring over the next week.
"We want this to be a kingdom event touching this region," said Pastor Joey Turner of Restoration Church of Gaffney. "There is an expectancy in the air and the belief that a fire is going to touch those willing and ready to accept it."
The church has been holding the conference annually since being established three years ago. Turner said this year's event is vastly different from the previous two.
"After last year's conference, we wondered how things could get better," Turner said. "Last year, the Lord directed us to stretch things out until Thanksgiving. This year, we don't know how long things will be, but the conference will sure be a blessing to a lot of people."
To set the atmosphere, Turner and his staff were able to line up "some of the most dynamic speakers he has ever heard." Speaking at the conference will be Bishops Tony Miller and Richard Lutwama, Apostle Stanley Ndovie, Darlene Bishop and Ron Kenoly, a Dove award nominee known to the masses for his inspirational praise and worship songs.
"It was great to be able to get him here," Turner said. "For the most part, things with the conference were set but his son contacted us and told us he would be here."
Kenoly will be performing at the Saturday night and Sunday morning services.
"We want the conference to touch every church as well as every person participating," Turner said.
The conference will run from Nov. 1-7 with services at 7 p.m. each date. Pastors and leader meetings are scheduled for 10 a.m. each day. If you would like more information, call the church at 489-1755.
