Teen says he was carjacked
A Gaffney man said he was held hostage at gunpoint in his car for several hours Tuesday.
Jonathan Scruggs, 18, of 630 Park Gate Road, said he was approached by a man just before 1 p.m. at the Burger King on Floyd Baker Boulevard whom he described as between 20 and 25 years old wearing a navy blue do-rag, a yellow Nautica fleece jacket, orange shirt and blue jeans.
Scruggs told police the man pointed a gun at him and ordered him into the back seat of his vehicle. According to a police report, the gunman got into the driver's seat and another man entered the vehicle and sat in the back seat with Scruggs.
The report states the gunman drove the car to several places in Gaffney as well as driving to Shelby and Gastonia in North Carolina.
Scruggs was able to escape from the vehicle while at a gas station in Shelby and subsequently called police. He said he lost approximately $5,000 in clothes and electronics in addition to the vehicle.
