Gaffney's Gallman wins tournament

USC Upstate golfer and Gaffney native Josh Gallman fired a 4-under 68 to win the individual title by six strokes at the Stetson/CFSC Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Victoria Hills Country Club.

Gallman opened the tournament with a 75, but shot 3-under par 69 in the second round to finish the day at even par 144.

Gallman has won two individual championships this year, including the Sea Trail Intercollegiate in September.

Clemson tops Augusta State

James Mays scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds to help Clemson to a 79-66 win over Augusta State in an exhibition game Tuesday night.

Eleven of the 12 Tigers who played scored. K.C. Rivers and freshman Terrence Oglesby each scored 15 points to lead Clemson, while freshman Demontez Stitt added 14 points.

Oglesby played just 17 minutes off the bench, but tried 16 shots, going 5- of-14 on 3-pointers.

The Division II Jaguars led by as many as eight in the first half. Augusta State's Demetrius Howard led all scorers with 19 points.

Clemson opens the regular season Monday against Furman.
