The Appalachian AAA (Area Agency on Aging) will be offering an information session for Medicare beneficiaries on the Medicare Prescription Drug program on Monday, Nov. 12, at 10:30 p.m. at the Gaffney Senior Center and at 11:45 a.m. at the Blacksburg Senior Center.

Information will include an overview of the plan, options during open enrollment and how some individuals may apply for assistance to play for plan costs.

There is no charge to attend that program that is sponsored through the ICARE (Insurance Counseling Assistance and Referral for Elders) program of the Appalachian AAA. The I-CARE program assists beneficiaries with enrollment during the Medicare Prescription Drug program's open enrollment that begins Nov. 15. Trained volunteers will be at the Gaffney Senior Center weekly, beginning Nov. 15, to assist with MPD enrollment. Call 864-489- 3868 to schedule a appointment.
