Four arrested after allegedly shooting road signs from car Four Gaffney residents were arrested Wednesday after authorities received a call about shots being fired from a vehicle. Justinn Caldwell, 23, and Christopher Forest Byars, 22, both of 139 Greenfield Road, and Michael Eric Dobbins, 23, of 1619 Leadmine Road, have been charged with discharging a firearm and malicious damage to property. The driver of the vehicle in which the four were riding, Aubrey Kate Stuart, 23, of 139 Greenfield Road, was charged with driving under the influence. According to a report on file at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office (CCSO), 9-1- 1 notified authorities shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday that shots had been fired from a red Honda Civic. Sgt. T. Parker said that after catching up with the vehicle at Pacolet Highway and Goucher School Road, he spoke with Stuart and noticed a "strong odor of alcoholic beverage." The report states Stuart failed several sobriety tests. Accoding to the report, the woman stated that the four of them had been smoking marijuana. The report claims Caldwell, Robbins and Byars shot several street signs with a 410-caliber shotgun. A North Carolina man is accused of taking several items from a local service station without paying for them. John Fitzgerald Ross, 42, of Kings Mountain, was charged Wednesday with petit larceny. According to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, Deputy B.L. Mullinax responded to a domestic call at the Wilco/Hess Store at 2768 E. Cherokee St. The report states Ross had left the scene by the time the officer arrive. The report states Ross was found a short distance from the store and looked like he was "highly intoxicated." The report states that several items from the store were found when police searched Ross. The items were returned to the store. The manager claims Ross did not purchase the items.
