Pair will give concert Nov. 15 at Limestone

James and Karen Buckland will perform Thursday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Carroll Recital Hall at Limestone College. They will each perform a solo piece, followed by a concerto by Giuliani and pieces by Mertz.

James Buckland is adjunct professor of guitar at Presbyterian and Converse colleges. He received training from the University of Toronto, University of Akron and University of South Carolina. He was the first guitarist to graduate from the University of South Carolina with a doctorate of musical arts degree in performance and received the Dean's Award for Distinguished Graduate Endeavors for his doctoral research paper on the 19th century terz guitar.

Karen Buckland is associate professor of music and the director of keyboard studies at Presbyterian College. She has a bachelor of music degree in piano performance from Mansfield University and a master of music degree and doctor of musical arts degree in piano pedagogy from the University of South Carolina. She is co-founder of Ludlamshohle, a chamber ensemble dedicated to 19th century music and is also the organist for First Presbyterian Church in Clinton.
