Michelle Leeann Wilcox, 25, of Sunny Slope Drive, and Billy Joe Henderson, 25, of 820 Railroad Avenue, were arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence for mutual combat as a result of an early morning accident Thursday.

According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, Wilcox was taking Henderson, her boyfriend, to his uncle's house when she changed her mind and turned the vehicle around.

The report claims that when she did so, Henderson began to jerk the steering wheel to the right causing the vehicle to run onto the curb and then back onto the roadway.

While talking to Wilcox, officers said they could smell the scent of alcohol coming from her, prompting them to perform a field sobriety test, the report states.

During the test, officers noticed that Wilcox had an injury to her lip. After being asked what happened to her lip, the woman claimed she fell. Officers asked Henderson if he knew about the injury and he said he didn't, according to the report.

During a routine "patdown," Henderson was found to have in his possession a "green, leafy like substance" believed to be marijuana, the report states.

He was then arrested.

Wilcox was arrested and charged with public drunkenness.

The report states that subsequent questioning revealed the two were involved in a heated argument that escalated into a physical altercation while the vehicle was in motion, causing it to leave the roadway.
