Teen robbed of cash in parking lot Gaffney Police are investigating a strongarm robbery outside a Factory Shops Boulevard business late last Thursday. A 17-year-old Chesnee teen was entering his car outside Starmax when an unknown man came up behind him and held an object to his back. The robber took the teen's wallet, removed the cash and then tossed the wallet to the ground. Police said about $70 was taken from the teen. Trailer stolen The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the theft of a trailer from a Hampshire Drive property. Owned by Lee Transport Equipment, the 16-foot enclosed tandem-axle trailer was valued at about $5,000. The theft occurred sometime between Dec. 12 and Dec. 14. Home burglarized Someone broke into a Mullinax Circle home over the weekend and cracked open a safe, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The homeowner said the thief or thieves gained access by breaking a window. Taken from the safe were two $100 bills, according to the property owner. Police said they took the safe for fingerprint analysis. Cigarettes stolen A burglar smashed the front door of a Wilkinsville Highway business early Tuesday to steal Newport cigarettes. Door damage to Fred's at 110 Wilkinsville Highway was estimated at $500 while the 14 cartons of Newport cigarettes stolen are valued at $434. The thefts occurred sometime around 1:50 a.m., when police were dispatched to an activated alarm. Hit and run alleged Gaffney Police are on the lookout for the driver of a pickup truck who allegedly drove away after striking another car on East Frederick Street on Monday morning. A Gaffney woman, whose car sustained about $900 in damage, said the driver of the truck, which was towing a trailer, did not stop after hitting her car. The accident happened at about 7:30 a.m. |
