Paul A. Weaver

GASTONIA - Paul Ambers Weaver, 82, of 3708 Old York Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 8, 1925, in Gaston County, he was the son of the late James and Bessie Weaver. He was a member of East Baptist Church and retired from A&P Tea Company

as a meat cutter.

Mr. Weaver was a

U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving aboard the USS New Jersey.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Richard "Rick" and Belinda Weaver of Concord, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia "Pat" and Edward Patterson of Gaffney; a brother Ernest Weaver; six sisters, Helen Davis, Catherine Summey, Carolyn Blankenship, Gloria Moore, Nell Whitesides and Linda Corbett; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Buchanan Weaver, and a sister, Ruby Groves.

Graveside services were held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Gaston Memorial Park. Visitation was from 1-2 p.m. in the Magnolia Room of Howell Funeral Home prior to the service.
