Retired from City of Gaffney

Felix Lipscomb Scruggs, 94, of 203 Magnolia St., went home to be with the Lord on December 27, 2007, at his residence.

Born in Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Jeff Scruggs and Alethia Scruggs and husband of Mollie Moore Scruggs, of the home. Mr. Scruggs was retired from the City of Gaffney and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was an active member of the Senior Center in Gaffney.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Frances Herschberger and husband, Calvin, of Gaffney and Carol Humphries and husband, Larry, of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Debbie Moore and husband, Greg, Mike Peeler and wife, Cheryl, and Karen Lee and husband, Jasper; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Scruggs was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Terry Pleasant. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Senior Centers of Cherokee County, 499 W. Rutledge Ave., Gaffney, S.C. 29341.

The family will be at the home of Carol and Larry Humphries, 203 Magnolia St.
