Sue Childers
Retired from Oxford

Sue Spencer Childers, 82, formerly of Pacolet Highway and a resident of Peachtree Centre, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb.10, 2007, at Spartanburg Pallative Care.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Onnie Childers and daughter of the late William Henry (Jack) Spencer and Lois Maynor Spencer. She was retired from Oxford and was a member of Berry Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Benny Millwood and wife, Lynnette, of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Kay Carter and husband, Rick, of Gaffney and Connie Baker of Denver, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Sybil Hill and husband, Roy, of Gaffney; a stepdaughter in-law, Susan Childers of Gaffney; two brothers, Chester Spencer and Jack (Joe) Spencer Jr., both of Gaffney; three sisters, Mary Bolin, Virginia (Jimmie) Childers and Judy Gantt, all of Gaffney; seven grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, one greatgreat grandchild and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Childers was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Carolyn Wilson; a step-son, Joe Childers; and three brothers, William R. Spencer, Leroy Spencer and Alonzo Spencer.

The family will receive friends today from 3-4 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of Rick and Kay Carter, 3264 Pacolet Hwy.
