BLACKSBURG - Deacon Floyd For, 81, of 120 Moda Road, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at 9:50 a.m. at his home.
A native of C h e r o k e e County, he was the widower of Mozelle Hardin Ford and son of the late Jim Ford and the late Irene Dawkins Ford. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from T.N.S. Mills of Blacksburg. He was a member of Youngs Grove Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and member of the Brotherhood and Adult Choir.
Surviving are four sons, Floyd Edward Ford of Harrisburg, N.C., James Ford of Dresden, Maine, Darryl Ford of Kings Mountain and Anthony Ford of Blacksburg; four daughters, Frances Ford of Shelby, Diane Archie of Atlanta, Terrye Ford of the home and Geneice Russell of Gaffney; a brother, Leonard Ford of Shelby; two sisters, Betty Crosby and Dorothy Mitchell of Shelby; 15 grandchildren, one of whom, Aundre Archie, of Atlanta was reared in the home as a son; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Youngs Grove Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Larry J. Brooks, Dr. George Kirby and the Revs. Gibson, Christopher Browning and Nettie R. McCluney. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Ford's nephews and nieces.
