CHARGED
Christopher K. Hoey, 27, of 402 E. Junior High Road, Gaffney, was arrested after nearly hitting officers with his red Mazda during a driver's license checkpoint, police said. Sgt. Todd Parker of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office was conducting the checkpoint at East Junior High Road and Wilkinsville Highway at 11 p.m. Sunday when Hoey refused to stop, according to a report at the sheriff's office. Parker attempted to follow the vehicle with his cruiser when Hoey jumped from his car and ran on foot. Deputies along with the sheriff's office bloodhound tracking team were able to locate Hoey in a wooded area, police said. He was charged with failure to stop for a blue light, 1st-offense driving under the influence, 1stoffense driving under suspension and violation of the open container law.
