Cherokee County eligible for relief

Eight South Carolina counties are eligible for USDA assistance as a result of a U.S. Department of Agriculture disaster designation declared for 47 primary disaster area counties in North Carolina, announced Glenn Thomas, County Executive Director, of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA).

The disaster designation is a result of losses caused by abnormally low temperatures and freezing conditions that occurred from April 6, 2007, through April 9, 2007.

The following South Carolina counties are also eligible because they are contiguous, or adjacent to the primary disaster areas: Cherokee, Chesterfield, Greenville, Lancaster, Marlboro, Oconee, Spartanburg and York.
