BHS graduate teacher of year

Terry Martin Carlton, an AP Biology and CSI teacher at Dorman High School in Spartanburg District 6, was recently named Teacher of the Year for 2007-2008. The award is considered a special honor because her peers, who consist of a staff of over 130 individuals, select the recipient.
Carlton, a 1975 graduate of Blacksburg High School, graduated in 1984 from Limestone College with honors while earning a B.S. degree in biology. She earned her Master of Education from Converse College in 2003.
Carlton taught biology for 13 years at Gaffney High School before moving to Dorman High School, where she has taught the AP Biology and honors biology classes for the last nine years. She has also served as the Science Department chairperson for the past five years.
Carlton lives with her husband, Mike, in Blacksburg. She is the daughter of Nell Martin and the late Harry Lee Martin. Her children are Erica B. Martin, Jeremy Bedford, Mandy C. Oglesby and Jonathan Carlton.
