CONCORD, N.C. - The Rev. Larry Eugene Irvin Sr., 73, of Hillside Avenue SW, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, in NorthEast Medical Center.

Born on Jan. 2, 1934, in Cabarrus County, N.C., he was the husband of Ruby Aliene Shoaf Irvin and son of the late Thomas A. Irvin Sr. and Evelyn Honeycutt Irvin. A retired pastor, Rev. Irvin was a minister for over 30 years. He founded Church of the Living Word, now known as Abundant Life Faith Church, in 1980 and was an author and U.S. Navy veteran.

Also surviving are two sons, Larry Irvin Jr. of Gaffney and Barry Irvin of Lake Wylie, and three grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Irvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas A. Irvin Jr. and Franklin Irvin.

Services will be held Saturday at noon at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Pastor Lewis Hagler. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until noon at the funeral home and at other times they will be at the residence.
