Two out-of-state men face drug charges here Two men from Colorado and Iowa were charged with crack cocaine possession last week when Metro Narcotics Unit agents executed a search warrant at a Gaffney hotel. James Stone Robben, 43, of Denver, Colo., was arrested at 10:15 a.m. with Michael Wayne Bentley, 54, of Keokuk, Iowa. Both men are charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession within proximity of a school. Robben and Bentley were arrested when agents with the narcotics unit and Gaffney police executed a search warrant in Room 123 at the Peachoid Road Homested Lodge off I-85. Officers found $1,300 in cash and three yellowish rocklike substances in Robben's pocket, according to an incident report on file at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. While searching Robben, officers located an ashen white rocklike substance. Officers found a white rocklike substance in Bentley's pants pocket wrapped in a glassine baggy, the report states. Bentley and Robben were transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center. Bentley is being held on a $12,500 surety bond. Robben is still awaiting a bond hearing. |
