Alta Horton

Retired from textiles

Alta Guyton Horton, 79, formerly of 105 Palmetto St., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at Peachtree Centre.

Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Aaron Guyton and Alice Gordon Guyton and the widow of Marshall Horton. Mrs. Horton was retired from textiles and was of the Holiness faith.

Surviving are a son, Marshall Larry Horton and wife, Melba, of Gaffney; two daughters, Karen Bolton and husband, Roy, of Blacksburg and Annette Evans and husband, Mike, of Gaffney; two brothers, the Rev. Henry Guyton of Gaffney and Aaron Guyton Jr., also of Gaffney; seven sisters, Louise Phillips, Dorothy Burgess, Bonnie Martin, Beulah Hughey, Betty Jo Blanton, Sally Sisk, all of Gaffney, and Nancy Spence of Clover; 11 grandchildren and 11 greatgreat grandchildren.

Mrs. Horton was preceded in death by a son, Blaine Timothy Horton; a daughter, Veronica Lou Horton; and a grandson, Jeffrey Scott Bolton.

The family would like to express their special thanks to her caregivers and friends at Peachtree Centre and to her niece, Pam Peeler.

The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Garner officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Peachtree Centre, Christmas Fund, 1434 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

The family will be at the home of Mike and Annette Evans, 172 Champion Ferry Road.
