Eddie A. Kesterson

Eddie A. Kesterson, 75, of 100 Shalimar Drive, passed away on Sept. 6, 2007, at Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.

Born in Polk County, N.C., he was the son of John Thomas Kesterson and Kitty Austin Kesterson and husband

of 50 years to

Patricia H. Kesterson.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during the Korean Conflict Mr. Kesterson was formerly employed by L. Hamrick Inc. and was a member of East Gaffney Baptist Church, where he was a lifetime deacon.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Jane K. Petty and husband, Reggie, of Gaffney, and Lisa K. Corbin and husband, Chris, of Tigerville; a granddaughter, Lauren Petty of Gaffney; three sisters, Rhoda Ward of Marion, N.C., Doris Rosier of Baltimore, Md., and Mary Lois Gilman of Sun City, Ariz.; and three brothers, Ervin Kesterson and Thomas Kesterson, both of Rutherfordton, N.C., and Dean Kesterson of Columbus, N.C.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Kesterson was preceded in death by his grandson, William Taylor Petty; a brother, J. D. Kesterson; and three sisters, Agnes Reece, Ruth Helmrich and Martha Kesterson.

He was cared for by a special nurse and friend, Tina Holder.

Services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at East Gaffney Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ron Jackson. Interment was in Frederick Memorial Gardens with Military Rites by the South Carolina State Honor Guard.

Visitation was held Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Gaffney Baptist Church, Family Life Center Building Fund, 2308 Cherokee Ave., Gaffney, S.C. 29340; or to Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, S.C. 29303.

The family will be at the residence.
