Permelia Joanna Walker and Matthew Tucker Earls

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edwin Walker of Kings Creek announce the engagement of their daughter, Permelia Joanna, to Matthew Tucker Earls of Blacksburg, son of Holly Hancock Keys of Connelly Springs, N.C., and Leroy Barron Earls Jr. of Gaffney.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Hayes Mitchell Faulkner of Kings Creek , the late Hugh Grier Faulkner Sr., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Raines Walker. Miss Walker is a 2003 graduate of Blacksburg High School and will graduate from Winthrop University in December as a Teaching Fellow with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and a Minor in Dance. She is the color guard instructor for the Blacksburg High School marching band.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Marcella Gosnell Earls of Blacksburg, the late Leroy Barron Earls Sr., the late Phyllis Lillian Tucker and the late James Morrison Hancock. Mr. Earls is a 2000 graduate of Blacksburg High School and attended Spartanburg Technical College. He is employed by Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Shelby and is the drum instructor for the Blacksburg High School marching band.

The wedding is planned for April 5, 2008, at Bethany Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Clover.
