Drop in graduation rate keeps Cherokee Tech from being 'excellent'

      A decline in graduation rates kept Cherokee Technology Center (CTC) from continuing its recent trend of excellent report card ratings. The school received a "Good" report card rating this year after receiving an "Excellent" rating each of the past four years.

Cherokee County Adult Education program tops in the state

      The Cherokee County Adult Education program was number one in the state this year with 80 percent of its students passing the national GED exam for a high school diploma. Cherokee County was presented with the Palmetto Trend-Setters Award on Nov. 16 at an awards luncheon in Columbia.

Man now considers education is 'cool'

      Eddie Wyatt quit school in the 1970s under pressure to "be cool." The 51-year-old now considers it cooler to have an education. Wyatt passed the GED high school equivalency exam Monday, becoming the first person from his family to earn a high school credential.
