Lizzie Tate
Retired from Cherokee County Memorial Hospital
Lizzie Tate, 96, of 420 Peeler St., widow of Aaron Tate, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at 2 p.m. at her residence.

A native of Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Edd Tate and the late Mary Dowdle Tate. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was retired from Cherokee County Memorial Hospital in Gaffney and worked at the United States Ammunition Plant in Charlotte for many years, making bullets for World War II.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by six brothers, five sisters and her son, Henry Louis Tate.

Surviving are two daughters, Perniece Tate Gibbs and Georgia Tate Dukes, both of Gaffney; 15 grandchildren, one of them, Delphine Tate of Gaffney, was reared in the home; 29 great-grandchildren, one of them, Barikia Tate of Gaffney, was reared in the home; and 36 great-greatgrandchildren.

Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr., the Rev. J.W. Richard, Elder David Goudelock III and the Rev. Kenneth Merriman officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at noon.

Pallbearers will be her greatgrandchildren.

The family is at her residence, 420 Peeler St.
