Depleted Indian hoopsters fall to Landrum at Byrnes jamboree
By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Sports Editor larry@gaffneyledger.com

Gaffney's Jazz Palmer had a team-high nine points in a loss to Landrum Tuesday at the Byrnes Jamboree.
Most of the Gaffney boys basketball team is still in cleats - and it showed Tuesday at the Byrnes Jamboree.

The Indians led by five in the first quarter but Landrum rallied for a 28-24 victory. Each game in the jamboree lasted two quarters.

"It was a close first quarter," Gaffney coach Mark Huff said. "We played all our kids and (Landrum) had its whole varsity team. We played hard but we are kind of behind the eight ball until we get our football players out."

Jazz Palmer had nine points and Josh Corry added seven to pace the Indians.

Huff said the Indians must improve their execution.

"We didn't run our plays very well," he said. "We had guys who were supposed to screen."

Huff did praise his team's effort.

"We played hard," he said.

The jamboree concludes the preseason for the Indians, who will begin the regular season on Nov. 30 against York. If the football team advances to the state championship game, the Indians will reschedule the York game and begin their season at home on Dec. 4 against Rock Hill.
