Hugh Patterson
Former owner/operator of Patterson Trucking

Hugh Patterson, 88, of 125 Forestdale Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Elizabeth Whelchel Patterson and son of the late J.W. Patterson and Delphia Kitchens Patterson. He was formerly the owner and operator of Patterson Trucking, a farmer and a Mason. Mr. Patterson was a member of Midway Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Myron H. Patterson and wife, Linda, of Spartanburg and Barry Patterson and wife, Madge, of Gaffney; a daughter, Kay Wren and husband, Joe, of Summerville; two brothers, Grady Patterson of Gaffney and Charles Patterson and wife, Pegge, of Gaffney; a sister, Martha Randolph of Gaffney; eight grandchildren, Kim Gatenbein and husband, Bobby, Leslie Grell and husband, Mark, Laura Patterson, Reed Patterson, Jay Patterson, Beth Wren, Joey Wren and wife, Teresa, and Clary Vance and husband, Todd; four great-grandchildren, Brad Owens, J.J. Vance, Chloe Wren and Cille Wren; three step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by six brothers, Nesbitt, Otis, Johnny, Mason, Paul and J. W. Patterson.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 3-4 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church. Services will follow at 4 p.m. at the church, conducted by the Rev. Vernon Craig and Dr. Joe Wren. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midway Baptist Church, 153 Midway Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341.
