Visitor's Center, CAVA Gallery holding open house Friday

The City of Gaffney's Visitor Center and CAVA Gallery have moved, but not too far - they are just across the street in the former home of the American Red Cross. To celebrate the event, they are holding a special holiday open house on Friday, Nov. 30.

Even though the move was made only a few months ago, the building is hardly recognizable with its new look and roomy surroundings. Also on display are works of art by members of Cherokee Alliance of Visual Artists.

Cindy Wilson, president of the CAVA, said, "The members of CAVA are delighted with the space and are very appreciative to the City of Gaffney for providing a location to display and sell the artwork of local artists. We can now begin to make plans to share the talents and skills of our members with the community in the form of classes, workshops, lectures and demonstrations."

Pat Throneburg, Gaffney's program coordinator, has managed the Visitor's Center for six years and is very excited about the recent move and the progress that has been made.

"This is an exciting era for the City of Gaffney as we embark upon new projects that will improve the quality of life for everyone, help bring new growth to the area and increase business and the arts offered in historic downtown Gaffney. The acquisition of this building could not have come at a better time as we had outgrown the previous location."

The open house will be part of the overall celebration of Christmas on Limestone and will add to the excitement of the evening of fun and festivities for the holidays.
