The Cherokee County Public Library has announced its hours for December. The main library in Gaffney will be open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The Blacksburg library will be open Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Cherokee County Republican Party banquet, originally scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 6, is being moved to a later date.

Fund raisers

Altrusa International of Gaffney is sponsoring a homemade vegetable soup lunch Thursday, Nov. 29, at Episcopal Church of the Incarnation. The meal of soup, cornbread, dessert and beverage costs $5 and will be served from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Eat-in or take out. All proceeds will be donated to local charities.

Special events

The 10th annual Candlelight Tour of Churches is set for Tuesday, Dec. 4, beginning at 6 p.m. Sponsored by the Broad River Baptist Association's WMU Leadership Team, the tour will begin at Antioch Baptist Church, 839 Antioch Road in Blacksburg, then go to Broad River Baptist Church for a 6:35 service and then to Hopewell Baptist Church for a 7:15 service. Refreshments will be served at Hopewell immediately following the tour.
