The local Cracker Barrel reached a milestone Monday when it celebrated its 10th year of business in Gaffney.
The old country store known for its vast array of food and gifts, invited the community to join in on the festive occasion by offering various prizes and product samples throughout the day. Also taking part in the event was Santa and his elves and a clown as well as members of the Gaffney Fire Department.
"It is a pretty significant feat that we have been able to be in this area for that long," manager Timm Litteral said. "A lot has happened in this area during these 10 years and I'm thankful we have been able to make it.
"The higher volume of traffic coming to this area has been unbelievable in bringing customers to our restaurant. But the support of the town has been instrumental in our success...I'm proud to be part of this community."
Along with celebrating company goals, there were also individual honors to be awarded as three employees reached a decade's worth of service at the restaurant.
Angela Palmer, Lee Allen and Becky Austin were part of the store's foundation in 1997, virtually helping to build the business' framework. Litteral referred to the three of them as the eatery's roots and foundation, exhibiting leadership on the job.
"They do more than they are asked," Litteral said. "They have seen a lot of changes and have stuck through it all."
