Franklin (Boogie) Bridges

Franklin Roosevelt Bridges, 73, of 607 Beason Road, went home to be with the Lord on Friday at his residence.

Born in Cherokee County, he was husband of Elizabeth Ruppe Bridges and the son of the late Elbert L. Bridges and Lizzie Wood Bridges. Bridges was a retired member of the U.S. Air Force, along with being a part of DAV and a former member of the VFW. He was a member of Cherokee Creek Baptist Church.

Along with his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael Bridges and his wife Terri, and Greg Bridges, of Gaffney; three daughters, Donna Fullenkamp and husband Eugene, Andrea Clary and husband Eric of Gaffney, and Trista Staggs and husband Jonathan of Cowpens; two brothers, Roy Bridges and James Bridges both of North; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Bridges was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Billy and Joe, and two sisters, Doris and Bobbie.

Services for Bridges were held yesterday at Cherokee Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Frazier officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cherokee Creek Baptist Church Building FUnd, 502 Buck Shoals Road, Gaffney, SC 29341 or to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, SC 29341.
