Young Lady Indians make strides in setback to York York was too much for the inexperienced Gaffney Lady Indians on Friday. The Lady Indians led by two points at halftime but York went on a spurt in the third quarter to take command en route to a 60-47 victory. "We are very young," Gaffney first-year coach Stacey Parris said. "We just have a lot of 10thgraders." Parris said the players need more time to develop their skills. Breanna Watkins was a bright spot for the Lady Indians with three 3-pointers. Parris also praised Tierra Phillips, who scored a team-high 13 points. Parris said her first game as coach of the Lady Indians was special. "It was a great game," she said. "We had a lot of support. I think the girls were ready to play. They just have to learn how to win." Gaffney, 0-1, hosts Rock Hill on Tuesday. |
