Former Gaffney High standout Sidney Rice had five catches, including a 2-yard touchdown grab, to help the Minnesota Vikings beat the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Reid scorches

nets for 29

Former Gaffney High standout AZ Reid had 29 points on 11 of 20 shooting from the field to lead High Point to an 80-68 win over Longwood on Saturday.

Richmond

ousts Terriers

Tim Hightower rushed for two second-half touchdowns to lead Richmond to its first-ever spot in the Football Championship Subdivision semifinals in a 21-10 victory at Wofford on Saturday night.

The Spiders (11-2) set a school mark for wins this season when Hightower found the end zone.

He had an 18-yard run to the Wofford 1, then followed with his first touchdown to put Richmond ahead 14-10 with 11:55 to play.

The Spiders got the ball back three minutes later when safety Michael Ireland picked up a botched punt attempt - the only one tried by either team - and ran it back to the Terriers' 1. Hightower scored one play later and Richmond was up 21- 10.
