Landrum runs away from Wildcats, 67-43

      Blacksburg couldn't keep up with the fast break Landrum offense Friday in a 67-43 loss. Landrum controlled the tempo on both sides of the court and benefited from several periods of cold shooting by Blacksburg. The Cardinals jumped out to a 15-4 lead in the first quarter and never trailed.

Gaffney topples Bearcats

      Gaffney boys basketball coach Mark Huff got what he wanted to see from his team on Tuesday - improvement. Unlike in their opener the Indians were smart and sharp with the ball to beat visiting Rock Hill, 68-58. Gaffney made 45 percent of its shot from the field and committed just 18 turnovers.

      Blacksburg jayvees beat Landrum The Blacksburg jayvee team beat Landrum 38-34 Tuesday for its first victory of the season. Dondray Hyatt hit a layup and two free throws with 12 seconds left for the final margin of victory. Hyatt finished with nine points.

Lady Indians even record with win over Rock Hill

      The Gaffney Lady Indians saved their best for last on Tuesday. The Lady Indians scored 30 fourth-quarter points to break open a close game in a 67-53 win over visiting Rock Hill. The win was Stacey Parris' first as head coach of the Lady Indians.

Bowden agrees to extension amid reports he talked with Arkansas

      COLUMBIA - Clemson coach Tommy Bowden didn't have to leave for Arkansas to find the security he wanted. Bowden, 53, agreed to a four-year extension Tuesday that, if he stays until the end, would keep him with the Tigers longer than any coach but the program's celebrated patriarch, Frank Howard.
