Local dancers perform in 'Nutcracker'
Ballet Spartanburg's production of holiday classic is set for Dec. 7-9

Anna Love, Taylor Covington and Caroline Harris will perform in Ballet Spartanburg's presentation of The Nutcracker on Dec. 7-9 in Twichell Auditorium at Converse College.

Carlos Agudelo, Ballet Spartanburg's artistic director, will bring Tchaikovsky's glittering score to life for everyone to enjoy. A cast featuring Miami City Ballet's Josephine Phillips and Mary Carmen Catoya help guide the journey, combined with splendid sets, colorful costumes and exciting dance.

Cherokee County has three young dancers as cast members in the Christmas ballet. Caroline Harris, a Ballet Spartanburg student, has appeared in several Ballet Spartanburg productions and this is her third appearance in The Nutcracker. She will dance the role of one of the Party Girls. Caroline was also cast in a recent production of Alice in Wonderland.

Anna Love, also a Ballet Spartanburg student with previous stage experience, will dance the role of a soldier. She has been a Ballet Spartanburg student for five years and this will be her second appearance in the holiday production.

Taylor Covington, a student at Julia's Dance Co., has participated six of Julia's annual recitals. Some of her stage and dramatic experiences including appearing in a documentary in the Chelsea Theatre District in New York City. She has been cast as cherub in The Nutcracker.

Michelle McKinney, production manager, said, "We have a very talented cast with a variety of dance, theatrical and stage experience and they, along with all the volunteers, make this magical production possible."
